    SMBC Capital Markets, Inc. is seeking a salesperson within Derivative Products Marketing, Financial Institutions with significant prior front office experience. This candidate covering financial institutions will bring in significant revenue while helping to expand SMBC’s derivatives platform for interest rate, currency, equity and commodity products. SMBC Capital Markets, Inc. is a registered swap dealer headquartered in New York and a subsidiary of Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group, one of the world’s largest and fastest growing banking institutions.


    • Originate and manage new client relationships with large financial institutions.
    • Work closely with relationship managers and other product areas, where applicable.  
    • Oversee trading documentation (e.g. ISDAs, CSAs and CDEAs) and onboarding process.
    • Manage counterparty credit process including requesting and maintaining trading lines.
    • Create presentations and marketing materials regarding specific client recommendations, general hedging topics, market developments and trade ideas.
    • Handle pricing and execution of various derivative transactions, including relevant credit exposure modelling and client-requested analysis.
    • Take responsibility for pre-trade checks including documentation, compliance and credit.
    • Manage post trade processes including trade booking, confirmations, reporting and P&L.
    • Develop transparent pipeline and tracking of future trades / deal flow.


    • 7+ years of front office experience in interest rate and currency derivatives.
    • Relevant existing client relationships (asset managers, bank portfolios and/or funds strongly preferred) as either primary or secondary coverage.
    • Strong financial modeling and analytical skills.
    • In-depth knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
    • Bachelor’s degree in business or other analytical discipline / Master’s preferred.
    • Strong sales, presentation and communication skills.
    • Ability to learn quickly all aspects of the business (including infrastructure, regulation, etc.).
    • Knowledge of economics, financial products and markets.
    • Ability to manage tight project deadlines and multiple tasks while working in a trading floor environment.
