Overview

This position requires the analysis of various credit risk elements for new and existing transactions in a portfolio of highly leveraged companies in the large cap and middle markets.

This position is necessary for compliance with regulations to monitor the bank’s loan portfolio and to ensure, as much as possible, that the prospects for repayment are high and that the risks incurred in the extension of credit are acceptable. In this role, the Credit Officer supports the bank’s business and provides feed back to the business units so that going forward the preferred transactions will be pursued.

 

Responsibilities

1. Conduct required analysis of various credit risk elements for new and existing transactions in a portfolio of highly leveraged companies in the large cap and middle markets. Prepare written executive summaries of proposed credit transactions by addressing key terms and conditions, addressing various risks with justification of mitigating factors, analysis of historical and projected financial performance and present recommendations to the management of the Credit Department, Americas Division (CDAD). 
 
2. Monitor an assigned portfolio of leveraged loan assets and report on key events (i.e. downgrades, events of default, etc.) to management. 
 
3. Ensure compliance with internal credit policies, workflow procedures, regulations, etc.
 
4. Undertake other related tasks and projects as required and assigned. 
 

 

Qualifications

Minimum of 10 years prior credit analysis experience at major commercial bank or financial institution focusing on corporate credit analysis is required. 
 
Experience writing thorough credit analyses with proven ability to identify major risk drivers, participants and key regulatory and risk challenges. 

 

In-depth knowledge of corporate finance and accounting.Excellent time-management and multitasking skills. 

 

Successful completion of a formal commercial bank credit training is highly preferred.

Knowledge of MS Office Suite; working knowledge of Bloomberg desirable.

English language proficiency, both written and spoken, to a native-speaker level.
