This job performs all aspects of compensation operations (as described below), data analysis, technical research and project support for the Compensation & Rewards team for SMBC and its Subsidiaries.
Researches, develops, maintains and administers programs, policies and practices in support of SMBC's Performance Management Program, including: Employee Performance Evaluations (by managers); Self-Evaluations; Goal-Setting; Pulse Checks; On-going tracking, reporting and metrics; Maintenance of the Lotus Notes Performance Management Database.
Year-end / Off-cycle Reviews:
Supports the research, development, maintenance and administration of programs, policies and practices associated with SMBC's formal reviews, including: the year-end promotions, salary and bonus review; the January mid-cycle (exceptional) promotion and salary review; applicable off-cycle compensation reviews for SMBC's subsidiaries (i.e., SMBC LF, Rail Services, Aviation Services, Manufacturer's Bank, etc.); the development of tools in support of applicable review processes (i.e., salary ranges, merit grids, promotion guidelines, ad-hoc reports, etc.); and preparing and maintaining the library of year-end reports (i.e., "The Avocado").
Performs key aspects of the market benchmarking annual planning cycle, including: daily market-based job pricing in support of job requisition requests submitted by hiring managers; SMBC data collection and submission for selected market surveys (i.e., McLagan Surveys); preparation of market data results via summaries for business manager review; preparation of analyses (macro and targeted) using available market data.
(May) create draft job descriptions using the on-line job description questionnaire (JDQ) and job content provided by the job's manager and/or applicable HRBP/HRD; reviews/confirms job content to enable job descriptions to move from draft JDQ to approved Job Description status (in the Job Description Library); works with applicable HRBPs/HRDs to obtain manager review and approval for new and/or revised job descriptions; ensures protocols are followed regarding job description requirements for offer letters, promotions, job transfers and scheduled quality control (i.e., 24-month cycle).
Completes complex and advanced special projects and sophisticated ad-hoc modeling/ analysis / reporting, as requested by the Sr Manager of Compensation & Rewards (examples: Compensation/Total Rewards Expense Analysis and Projections; creating new salary ranges for SMBC subsidiaries; salary range penetration analysis; further developing the Compensation Dashboard; etc.)
Proficient math and analytical skills required.
Full proficiency of the Microsoft Office suite required - expert-level skills in Excel preferred (i.e., Excel power-user); working knowledge Lotus Notes and Oracle databases preferred.
