Overview

Responsible for day-to-day financial accounting and reporting, and resolution of accounting and reporting issues in accordance with accounting policies guidance, and the Bank's policies and procedures.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provides day-to-day support to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting
  • Performs monthly, quarterly and year-end book closing process, including the review of loan loss reserves and non-performing loan transactions, GAAP conversion adjustment, validation of key B/S and PL accounts, and resolution of clearing account breaks
  • Identifies and resolves breaks between subledger and General Ledger (GL)
  • Addresses systems and workflow issues, participates in the testing of system and workflow enhancement (required to develop testing scenarios in some cases)
  • Provides guidance to typical upfront fees and other fees, premiums and discounts originated from loan transactions
  • Prepares various reports to management, auditors and Head Office
  • Performs variance analysis
  • Liaisons with all relevant departments with issues arise

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (CPA preferred)
  • 5 to 7 years of working experience in financial accounting and reporting (banking/finance industry preferred)
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP on major financial products (JGAAP preferred)
  • Functional knowledge of major financial products to include commercial loans, derivatives, money market, trade bills, etc. (knowledge of fixed asset preferred)
  • Knowledge of non-performing loans, assessment of loan impairment and loan loss reserves, maintenance of charts of accounts (mapping hierarchy, account utilization, etc.)
  • Working knowledge of SOX (Sarbanes Oxley), including self-assessment protocols regarding design and operational effectiveness
  • Ability to create testing scenarios and related accounting posting patterns; and review of testing of subsystem workflows and interfaces to the General Ledger system
  • Strong, analytical, system and spreadsheet skills
  • Strong sense of urgency and deadline driven: attention to detail, accuracy and accountability
  • Team-oriented, ability to be proactive in raising concerns, and escalate problems as needed
  • Preferably experience in Oracle application, IBM Cognos application, Loan IQ
