Overview

SMBC is seeking a Vendor Accounting Analyst to work in the Harborside, Jersey City office.

Responsibilities

The job responsibilities are described herein:

  • Manages day-to-day accounts payable transactions and ensures the financial accuracy and timeliness in ELF GL or Oracle GL depending upon the subsidiary
  • Provides payroll funding for assigned subsidiaries to ensure accuracy and timeliness in ELF and Oracle
  • Maintains accurate account records for subsidiaries and provides reports and account analysis in accordance with established reporting systems
  • Requests the set up of new vendor portfolios to comply with regulatory requirements
  • Prepares assigned inter-company billing and settlement between SMBC and subsidiaries, including processing AP and journal entries to ensure financials are accurately maintained and updated daily
  • Participates in QA tests in established systems to enhance the performance of current software
  • Reports receivables from Bank to subsidiaries to comply with regulatory requirements
  • Prepares various reports for subsidiaries' management and Head Office upon request

 

Qualifications

  • Work Experience: 3 to 5 years of specialized experience in Financial Services
    Accounting and Finance
  • Education: Required: BA/BS or equivalent experience and training; Preferred: MA/MS/MBA 
  • Software Systems: Oracle GL and AP, Microsoft Office and Concur

CRITICAL JOB KNOWLEDGE AND CORE COMPETENCIES/SKILLS 

  • Strong knowledge of vendor accounting payments and processes
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and Japanese GAAP
  • Strong knowledge of major financial products
  • Working knowledge of the firm's different businesses and the related financials
  • Working knowledge of the firm's financial and management reporting standards, systems and procedures
  • Strong level of knowledge of Oracle GL or other high functioning accounting system
  • Ability to develop and manage relationships in assigned businesses and across the bank
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; high level of urgency and deadline driven; attention to detail, accuracy and accountability
