SMBC Capital Markets, Inc. is seeking a temporary assistant to the Finance and Operations department for a period of 2 months. The person in this position will be responsible for:

  • Tracking of inbound and outbound mail to ensure the on-time arrival of information, via email, phone and online platform
  • Timely follow-up of priority items
  • Data entry and file maintenance (new item set-ups, information tracking comments, and more as needed)
  • Reviewing/answering emails
  • Special Projects as assigned.



  • Handle administrative tasks for Finance and Operations department
  • Review time sensitive document completion checklists
  • Send and receive emails requesting information from external sources
  • Data entry
  • Create time sensitive FedEx/or other mailing packages daily 
  • Performs general clerical duties to include but not limited to: photocopying, faxing, mail distribution and filing
  • Creates and modifies various documents using Microsoft Office.
  • Answer phones promptly and uses good judgment to prioritize the distribution of messages in a timely manner
  • Prepares meeting materials and assists with the development of PowerPoint presentations
  • Performs all other related duties as assigned



  • Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent experience and training
  •  2+ years of administrative support experience with increasing responsibility required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite a must, and Sharepoint a plus
  • Ability to write, speak and interact clearly and professionally a must
  • Extremely organized. Strong multi-tasking and time-management skills
  • Can handle sensitive information with the highest degree of integrity and confidentiality
  • Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills required
  • Must have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced and deadline driven environment
  • Must be able to maintain professionalism and a positive service attitude at all time
