The Analyst I supports associates and senior level officers in underwriting and executing Middle Market Leverage Finance transactions. Role involves preparing credit applications, performing financial analysis, conducting industry research, assisting marketing staff in preparing client materials and other administrative tasks as required.



• Supports credit underwriting activities for senior debt supporting LBO’s, debt restructurings, recaps, acquisitions and refinancings. Conduct analysis and research on the performance of borrowers to assess historical performance and future projections; i.e.. Cash flow analysis, risk capital calculations, risk and mitigants.
• Review projections and budget achievement – become fluent in utilizing financial projection model with appropriate assumptions / drivers.
• Gather support documentation to structure deals, liaise with middle and back office for KYC and transaction funding/closing, and assist in drafting pre screen memos for the Credit Department.
• Conduct quarterly and annual reviews for a limited number of portfolio accounts and handle a variety of system and procedural issues related to the borrowers such as internal grading, monthly/quarterly reporting, and other ad hoc projects.
• Assist in underwriting new transactions – increases in exposure, refinance/recapitalizations, dividends, M&A transactions, loan closings and funding, and other credit events that may impact the borrower.
• Learn and utilize a variety of internal IT systems, including customer setup, compliance, portfolio management systems, database tracking systems, etc.
• Undertake research and analytics as directed related to specific sectors, regions or loans, and stay abreast of current market conditions.
• Provide ad hoc reports for management.



• 0 to 2 years of comparable or relevant experience
• Prior internships in a corporate bank or other financial institutions a plus
• Advanced accounting and finance coursework preferred

• Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new processes and systems. Works well in a culturally- diverse and team- oriented environment. Demonstrates intellectual curiosity and an interest in continuous learning.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, ability to synthesize large amounts of information, analyze risk and identify mitigating factors.
• Highly collaborative and flexible in a team and client environment with ability to form good relationships internally and externally. Able to coordinate and communicate with various internal departments across the bank (middle/back office, global counterparts.)
• Ability to organize thoughts and clearly articulate points and provide summaries and explanations of transactions, orally or in writing to management or other internal departments.
• Strong accounting skills with an ability to read and interpret financial statements and perform cash flow analysis. Must be proficient in the use of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
• Demonstrates a high degree of attention to detail and an ability to complete work accurately and in a timely manner against strict deadlines.
