SMBC is seeking an Accountant who will be responsible for implementing the Bank’s general accounting strategy by preparing daily bank reconciliation reports, daily management reports, reconciliation reports for the GIS sub systems and for the Oracle GL, as well as checking the daily Journal report. In addition the position assists in preparing other Accounting department reports for use by external parties and Head Office. The information is provided for local and corporate management and external auditors.
University graduate or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years previous related experience in a financial institution.
Knowledge of the legislation, regulations and guidelines governing banking in Canada and the Schedule III Banks.
Knowledge of Canadian GAAP (IFRS).
Superior knowledge of computerized accounting systems and use of computer software applications.
Knowledge of credit and lending practices.
