  • Overview

    SMBC Nikko Securities America, Inc. is looking for an experienced professional to assist its DCM Team by performing origination, structuring and marketing of high yield debt financings for clients of SMBC.  This role is an opportunity to assist in building out the High Yield Fixed Income platform.  The incumbent will be marketing new issue bond transactions of the issuers located in the America, with primary coverage to be a combination of Corporates, Natural Resources, High Yield, and/or Project Finance. This role will work closely with Banking staff (Relationship Managers) in obtaining high yield DCM mandates, and providing knowledge of the high yield and leveraged markets to SMBC Corporate clients.

     

    Responsibilities

    - Pitching high yield DCM ideas and solutions to SMBC clients 
    - Overseeing the execution of high yield DCM offerings 
    - Working with Nikko Sales & Trading on new issues and secondary offerings 
    - Liability Management of high yield debt  
    - Establishing internal approval processes 
    - Prospecting potential new banking relationships for SMBC

     

    Qualifications

    - Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Math or related field or its equivalent
    - 15+ years of Debt Capital Markets experience

    - Well versed in both high yield and leveraged markets including both fixed income and loan products
    - Overall debt capital raising idea generation including senior, subordinated, first lien, second lien and mezzanine debt.
    - Understanding capital structures of issuers across a variety of industries
    - Strong quantitative and analytical skills
    - Financial modeling experience is highly desired
    - Knowledge of accounting and ability to interpret financial statements
    - Knowledge of general capital markets as well as specific market. Product and sector knowledge.
    - Series 79 & 63 certified will be required
     - Excellent written and oral communication skills
    - Ability to prioritize work and multi-task responsibilities including working for multiple people
    - Positive attitude with willingness to perform to build and improve newly set-up DCM team
    - Presentation skills (writing, analytics, strategic focus, conveying the message clearly and precisely)
    - Ability to provide market analysis
    - This role requires excessive overtime and heavy traveling
