Overview

SMBC's Structured Placement Group is looking for an analyst to join its growing team.  The analyst will provide support to associates and senior marketing officers for the origination of financing transactions from issuers, and the placement of debt securities with institutional investors.  The analyst will also assist with research and marketing materials, as well as writing offering memoranda.  This position reports to the Group Head of Structured Placement.

 

Responsibilities

-Collect industry and financial data for investors and offering memoranda.
-Prepare marketing materials and pitch books for client meetings; prepare offering materials for private placement transactions.
-Contribute research materials and information to update SMBC Nikko on current business activity and the pipeline.
-Assist in the sales effort by answering investor and investor counsel questions and from time-to-tim interface with issuers to obtain information and consolidate feedback for investors.
-Assist in writing offering memoranda (description of the business, industry, financial information, terms of the offering, covenants, etc.)
-Responsible for data collection and assisting with the preparation of marketing materials.
-Keep abreast of market dynamics and conditions; obtain market reads from investors and relevant industry publications.

 

Qualifications

- 0-2 years of experience working as a credit analyst at a bank or other financial institution desired, or prior internships in a similar role a plus.
- BA/BS or its equivalent.

- Strong Microsoft Office skills - Excel, Word, Powerpoint, Bloomberg

- Excellent communication and business writing skills; attention to detail; clearly articulates view point orally and in marketing and presentation materials.
- Highly collaborative and flexible in a team and client environment with an ability to form good relationships internally and externally; comfortable interacting with Treasurers, CFOs, senior management and relationship managers.
- Self-driven and motivated; takes personal ownership of specific assignments and demonstrates intellectually curiosity and an interest in continuous learning.
- Able to quickly learn and absorb information in order to understand the broader picture.
