    SMBC Capital Markets is an interest rates derivatives trading company based in New York City, with offices in London and Hong Kong. Our Capital Markets business is an established derivatives dealer with a broad product portfolio, with specific emphasis on interest rates and foreign exchange. We have been in operation for more than 30 years and is a leading market maker in several markets.

     

    Our Capital Markets Derivatives Trading group is expanding given our strong business growth and untapped opportunities. We are seeking to hire highly motivated individuals who have the potential to develop into full-fledged traders. We have opportunities on our Rates desk, FX desk and Options desk. Ideally this candidate should have worked in the Front Office either as a junior trader or trading assistant. We are looking for candidates who have a deep interest in the market itself (preferably in interest rates derivatives) with a track record of adding value while assisting traders both in terms of operational issues, as well as in managing market risks.

    Responsibilities

    • Assist Rates trader in managing his flow book as well as in making markets
    • Assist FX traders in making market through e-trading platform
    • Assist Option traders in analyzing the portfolio and managing the market risk
    • Assist other traders in operational issues related of booking/clearing
    • Assist traders in verifying daily PnL and validating mark-to-market

    Qualifications

    • 2-3 years of Fixed Income derivatives experience in a junior trader or trading assistant role and/or strong Fixed Income product knowledge including swaps, options, FX, credit.
    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
    • Strong Excel and VBA skills
    • Programming knowledge in Python, Visual basic is a plus
    • Strong communication and analytical skills
    • Motivated, ability to work well under pressure and proactive
    • Knowledge of derivatives valuations and curve building fundamentals
    • Strong multitasker with the ability to work  several projects/issues at one time
