  • Overview

    This data expert will be part of the Portfolio Management Group (PMG) within Financial Strategy Department, Americas Division. The role of PMG is expanding to increase focus on looking at entire businesses and sectors and this data expert will be the primary person responsible for enhancing and managing the client database of Americas Division. This person will work under supervision of the Head of PMG and will produce analysis and reports addressing big picture issues within the Americas Division. This person will be the point person for management of the Americas Division's integrated database. This job will include coordination with all marketing groups and across numerous departments that will provide and use the data and analysis made possible with this new database.

    Responsibilities

    - Enhancing client database by pulling data from vairous souces to be integrated and presented in a user friendly format.
    - Maintaing the database by building a largely automated regular update process.
    - With supervision, prepare and present actionable recommendations to management based on findings from the database.
    - Play a key role in an initative to unify the Americas Division database by working with other departments within Americas Division.
    - Play a key role in an initiative to unify the database globally working with other offices globally.
    - Support Senor Portfolio managers in Deal Review, assessment of secondary investment opportunities, and other ad hoc assignments which will broaden candidate's experience beyond just data management.
    - Educate data stewards within various depratments so they can effectively utilize the information present in this database for their own reporting and analysis purposes.

    Qualifications

    - Minimum of 2-5 years of comparable or relevant experience. Bachelor's degree preferred.

    - Access, SQL, R, COGNOS, Advanced EXCEL and VBA
    - Japanese speaking and reading skill is a plus as this job is expected to coordinate with Tokyo office for data globalization project.

    - Understanding and experience managing and creating databases, primarily through Access
    - Knowledge of SQL
    - Experience creating actionable dynamic reporting for senior management
    - Avanced Excel and VBA skills
    - Experience with IBM COGNOS is a plus
    - Knowledge of financial regulations (Basel III) and capital allocation models is a plus
    - Knowledge of R (programming language) is a plus
    - Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with an ability to synthesize large amounts of information.

    - Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to present effectively across all levels of the organization including senior management.
