  • Overview

    SMBC is looking for a Senior s Associate to work in the Corporate Payments & Customer Service Section of the Clients Services Center, located in Jersey City, NJ (Harborside.) The candidate will be responsible for preparing, verifying USD and foreign currency payments received by facsimile transmission and via Cash Management System for processing as well as performing daily reconciliation of outstanding items and assisting with customer inquiries pertaining to payments, amendments, cancellations, special instructions, etc. The candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skill and be diverse and detail-oriented and provide first level escalation of complex inquiries.

     

    The department requires coverage for customer support from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM, this position will require on a rotational basis the hours of 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM or 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM

    Responsibilities

    Prepare / validate and checking of payments received by facsimile transmission and via Cash Management System for processing.

    Respond to with customer /front office inquiries pertaining to payments, fees, special instructions, etc.

    Perform daily reconciliation of outstanding items.

    Participate in ad-hoc assignments as assigned by management.

    Qualifications

    Minimum of 5 years general banking experience and knowledge of back office operations.

    Strong understanding of wire transfer processing including CHIPS and Fedwire and familiarity with SWIFT formatting including MT 100 and MT 200 series. Experience in Montran JGPS a plus but not mandatory.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills as there is substantial interaction with the customers and various Front Office personnel.

    Exposure to Cash Management Systems and currency conversion processing.

    PC skills including MS Word, Excel, Power Point

     

    Provide outstanding customer service corporate clients
    Develop and establish key relationships with Front Office and customers
    Pro actively assist with complex customer needs.
