  • Overview

    SMBC Nikko Securities America is looking for an Associate to join its Operations Team.  The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge related to international and cross-border settlements with solid knowledge of the Broadridge/NetX360 systems.

    Responsibilities

    -Ensure on a daily basis that all JPY and JGB trades are confirmed and matched, all trades settle, accurate flow of data between Impact/ Gloss and the clearing bank.

    -Monitor the settlement process of corporate bonds thru Pershing NetX360, ensuring on a daily basis that all corporate bond transactions are affirmed or manually confirmed.

    -Reconcile settlement discrepancies through communications with clients, custodians and Middle Office in order to ensure proper settlements as well as maintaining a strong client relationship. Escalate unresolved discrepancies to managment.

    -Assist the Administration and Systems Maintenance groups of Operations to close out any system issues.

    -Responsible for creating and modifying new client accounts and delivery instructions in various trading systems; Impact, Gloss and NetX360. Assist COG with any inquiries.

    -Assist in other areas of the dept. when needed.

    Qualifications

    - 4+ years experience with international and cross- border settlements, performing day T+1 checks to identify any potential issues.

    - Experience with settlement and trade reconciliation process utilizing the Broadridge Impact/Gloss systems.

    - Strong interpersonal, analytical, attention to detail, time management and problem solving skills
    - Ability to identify problems as they arise and prioritize what needs to be escalated.
    - Detailed, thorough, and efficient with good analytical skills, a customer service mindset and time management skills.

    - Excellent verbal and written communication skills .

    - Ability to multi task and work in a team environment and flexible to changes and challenges

    - Familiarity with Excel and Word.

    - May require coming in as early as 8 am, and at times, working late hours.
