  • Overview

    This is a role in our data center in Jersey City, NJ for an Operations Specialist.   The team supports the production environment including coverage of our data center and environmental checks and potential deliveries.  The primary task is to identify data center related problems using our monitoring tools across our server and network environment   The team is responsible for creating and assigning tickets to the appropriate support group.  Once assigned, the team establishes an effective handover of the event and then if necessary uses our escalation protocol to resolve the problem The schedule for this role is Monday through Friday 3PM to 11PM, as such the person working this shift would need to be able to communicate to team members that work earlier hours or the later hours to ensure proper handover of work in progress.

    Responsibilities

    • Monitor the production environment and respond to any systems issues
    • Coordinate, communicate and escalate with different technology teams to resolve problems
    • Creating and assigning tickets
    • Communicate with the different shifts and other data center locations

    Qualifications

    • At least five years of relevant work experience in a data center and production environment
    • At least three years of experience in a large scale client / server client server environment including Linux / Unix server framework, distributed system Windows framework and hardware like EMC / Dell SAN storage and Cisco Switches
    • Experience with multiple schedulers including IBM Tivoli (TWS), Job Management Partner 1 (JP1) and Tidal Enterprise Scheduler
    • Would be helpful to know Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM) as a monitoring tool
    • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team
    • Ability to work a standard shift, weekend, night time work, and/or irregular hour shifts for projects and other functions that might not happen during normal business hours (ie - weekend work due to maintenance and recovery testing)
